Intervention Programmes at Falconer's Hill Academy

We understand that there may be times where out pupils may need some extra intervention and support in order to reach their full potential and succeed. Some of the intervention programmes that we offer are: -

  • Social Skills Development
  • Anxiety Management
  • Managing Emotions/Emotional Literacy
  • Loss, Separation and Bereavement Support, including Family support and Crisis Intervention
  • Health and Dietary Support
  • Protective Behaviours
  • Positive friendships/relationships
  • Drawing and Talking Therapy
  • Parenting support

Please note these lists are not exhaustive. Provision, programmes and interventions are both flexible and responsive in order to meet individual need.

Pastoral interventions work on a referral basis to Miss Grant or member of Pastoral team. This is often completed by Class Teacher or member of staff based on concerns raised and indicators that a child may require some additional support or intervention.

If you would like to discuss pastoral interventions, please request a call/meeting from Miss Grant via the school office team or raise concerns with your child’s Class Teacher.

Early help and support for parents and carers

Early help means working with you and your family to ensure that you receive the right help and support as soon as you need it. Early help is for everybody, for families with children and young people of any age. And it's your choice whether to access it or not.

The Early Help Assessment (EHA) is a process designed to help you support your child.

There are lots of reasons why you might want some support including:

  •       Advice about your child's health, development or behaviour
  •       How your child is progressing at school
  •       Caring for a child with a disability or additional needs
  •       Concerns you have about money or housing that is affecting your family
  •       Help around domestic abuse, drugs, alcohol or crime
  •       Bereavement support
  •       Being a young carer

You can request an EHA or a professional can recommend your child or family. All professionals who work with children and young people in Northamptonshire may recommend support for your child or family.

If you think an EHA may benefit you and your family, you can contact your GP, your child's health visitor, or ourselves, or for further advice and support get in touch with the Northamptonshire Children’s Trust Children and Family Support Service.

Young Carers

At Falconers Hill Academy we believe that all children and young people have the right to an education regardless of what is happening at home. When a child looks after someone in their family with a history of long-term physical or mental ill health, a disability, alcohol abuse or substance abuse the young person may need some extra support to help them get the most out of school.

A Young Carer is a student under 18 years of age who helps to look after a family member who is disabled, physically or mentally unwell or has a substance misuse problem. Caring can involve physical or emotional care or taking responsibility for someone’s safety or wellbeing. The level of responsibility assumed by a Young Carer is often disproportionate to their age and at a level beyond simply ‘helping out’ with jobs at home, which is a normal part of growing up.

Miss Grant is available for any child/young person, parent or family member who wishes to discuss their family circumstances so that we can help the child/young person in achieving their potential.
